fn KEY

With the fn key on your MAC keyboard you can open and close TopFolder with one click. To be able to use this function, you must first activate the fn key and give your permission. We'll show you how this works here.

SYSTEM SETTINGS

Safety
Accessibility
Open the lock in the lower left
press the plus sign
Add the Topfoler program
Check the box

Now open the TopFolder setup window and click on "Exit TopFolder".
The next time you start TopFolder, the fn key is activated. See picture on the right.

USB

Grant USB access

Open the TopFolder Setup window and click on the "General" tab at the top.

Go to the line "Access to external USB devices"
Click on "Allow" on the right
A new window opens in which you click on "Open / Select" at the bottom right.

To access the recycle bin and your icloud recycle bin, use the same procedure as for granting USB access.

Trash

Grant WASTE BASKET access

Open the TopFolder setup window and click on the "General" tab.

Go to the "Trash Access" line
Click "Allow" on the right
A new window will open in which you click on "Open / Select"

To access the iCloud trash, use the same procedure as for granting USB access.

FAVORITES

FAVORITEN 1 & 2

Open the TopFolder setup window and click on the "Favorites" tab at the top.
For Favorite 1, click on the right. Choose from the list below and click Choose at the top.
In the next window click on your favorites e.g. Download, desk, etc.
Confirm your selection at the bottom right by clicking "Open"
You do the same for Favorite 2 as for Favorite 1

T&T THIS AND THAT

Grant T&T access

Open the TopFolder setup window and click on the "Favorites" tab at the top.
To assign the T&T folder, click on the right. Choose from the list below and click Choose at the top.
In the next window, click on your document folder on the left.
Confirm your selection at the bottom right by clicking "Open". The T&T folder is now in the Document directory and should not be deleted.

MAGIC FOLDER

Hold one or more files with the mouse and use the fn key to open the TopFolder program.
Drag the mouse over a ripped free TopFolder and drop your data over it.
In the example image it is group X at position 9.
The "Save As" dialog box opens, where you enter the name for your new folder.
Select the location. We recommend the "Documents" directory
Click on "Create"

ORPHAN FOLDERS

Eject orphaned folder

Folders of external hard drives or USB devices that can no longer be reached because devices are no longer available or defective or there is no internet connection e.g. for NAS or cloud folders, you can eject or relink at any time.

Open the TopFolder setup window and click on the "Folder" tab.
Select the group e.g. (D)
Mark the folder e.g. (6 Shooting ...) and right click on "Eject Folder"

SHORTCUTS

SHORTCUTS for TOPFOLDER

"fn" TopFolder is heard
Jump to group: Ctrl + A .... Z.
cmd + C - copy
Cmd + V - paste
cmd + D - duplicate

Alias
Hold a file in the TopFolder with the mouse to e.g. move to the desktop and then press the cmd + alt key. This shortcut creates an alias of this file.

Copy
If you do not want to move a file, but you need a copy, press the ALT key and then the file in question before recording. The original now remains at the place of origin.
